Wastewater System Improvements
About the Project
We are currently underway on a major project to replace pipelines and improve seven of our eight wastewater lift stations, which move wastewater through our system to treatment. This long-overdue project will make our wastewater system much more reliable and involves upgrades across our service area.
Construction began in November 2026. Full completion is planned for the middle of 2027.
The first part of the project (2025-2026) includes:
- Installing a new wastewater lines between two of the sewage pump stations along Serena Drive and south into City open space. (Lift Stations 1&2)
- Permanently removing a sewage lift station (Lift Station 2) and adding a new gravity sewer in the open space South West of Hidden Pointe Blvd and Monarch Blvd (northwest of the Briar Trace Drive cul-de-sac). Construction is underway and will continue intermittently in two phases: 1. Phase One will involve adding the new gravity sewer (late February through mid-April). 2. There will be a temporary pause in construction until Phase Two from mid-July through early September, when we'll remove the old sewage pump station.
- Upgrading our lift station north of Hidden Point Blvd. and Serena Drive (Lift Station 1 Renovation Project)
- Replacing our lift station in the Hidden Pointe neighborhood, behind 343 and 355 Crossing Circle (Lift Station 5 Replacement Project)

Construction Impacts - What to Expect
(Last updated: February 25th, 2026)
Impacts in Nearby Neighborhoods: The District is committed to proactive, transparent communication about impacts, detours, noise, and construction schedules. Construction impacts may include noise, equipment staging, increased truck traffic, and temporary lane/road and trail closures. The District will work to minimize construction impacts as much as possible, provide traffic control, maintain property access, keep trails open whenever possible, and coordinate in advance with local schools, neighbors and businesses.
Our team will post updates here in advance of construction, provide door hanger or mailed notices to nearby homes/businesses, and send out notifications on Daupler text messaging (sign up here if you haven't already). The District appreciates your patience as we work on these necessary upgrades and will work to minimize disruption however possible. All the stations and pipelines should be finished by the end of 2027, prepared to serve our community for decades to come.
Upcoming Construction Impacts:
TRAFFIC IMPACTS:
Temporary, one-lane closures on a portion of Hidden Point Blvd., a temporary closure of Serena Dr. where it intersects Hidden Pointe. These impacts are planned through early March (weather depending - we may have to delay paving if it snows. if that happens, we will patch and reopen the roads in the meantime).
Construction Traffic Route: Due to limited site access some construction traffic during February and March will be routed through the Hidden Pointe Neighborhood. Roads will be monitored for debris, and trucks are expected to travel at or below 20mph. For any questions or to report a concern please email our District Manager- Nathan Travis at Nathan@cpnmd.org.

TRAIL IMPACTS:
Temporary trail closure in the open space west of Briar Trace and Briar Haven Drive from early March through mid to late April. North Open Space Trail System along Serena will remain open with a detour in place.

Q: Why can’t equipment be stored out of sight?
A: Vehicles and equipment must be stored within the project area in locations approved by the City of Castle Pines. This ensures that your neighborhood’s storm drainage is protected and the site is secure at the end of each workday.
Q: What is being done to keep the construction area safe and clean?
A: Our contractor is required to keep the construction sites safe and secure at all times. CPNMD staff will make routine visits to construction sites to ensure that they are being properly maintained. If any additional clean-up is needed, we will direct the contractor to do so.
Q: What will the project site look like once construction is over?
A: At project completion, the contractor is responsible for fully restoring the property to pre-construction conditions.
