Backflow Prevention Survey & Inspection Information
Homes that DO NOT have a Fire Suppression/ Sprinkler system may disregard this notice!
Castle Pines North Metro District will be conducting annual backflow prevention device testing of all non-single-family residents (commercial, irrigation, fire) and single-family homes with Fire System backflow prevention assemblies within the District. If you have a fire sprinkler system please contact us for a survey and inspection.
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) requires these tests to protect the public water supply from potential contamination caused by backflow—the unintended reversal of water flow that can carry pollutants into the potable system. Beginning in 2026, each account requiring annual testing will be charged a monthly fee of $12.50. This fee covers the cost of inspection, testing, and any repair or replacement of components internal to the backflow device.
To complete this work, we require access to your property to schedule and perform testing of your backflow prevention assembly. Our certified District technicians (or contractors) will perform the testing and any minor maintenance (“soft repairs”) needed to ensure compliance. All results and records will be maintained and reported directly to CDPHE by the District.
Please email Backflow@cpnmd.org to arrange a convenient time for access and testing. Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number. You may also call BackFlow Secure directly, 303.928.3969. Survey and Testing must be completed by March 31st 2026 to remain in compliance with state regulations. Failure to do so will result in termination of service until the necessary testing can be completed.
This District-managed testing program ensures consistent service and helps protect the entire community’s drinking water system. We appreciate your cooperation and partnership in keeping our water safe. Please contact District Manager Nathan Travis directly with any questions - 303.242.3262 or nathan@cpnmd.org.
NOTES:
-
If you have an fire sprinkler system that has been disconnected, you are still required to contact us to complete a site inspection. Sytems that have been properly disconnected will NOT incur the $12.50 monthly fee.
- The inspection, testing, and repair applies to the backflow device only. We are NOT testing the functionality of your fire supression system.
