Castle Pines North Metropolitan District continues work on several median islands along Castle Pines Parkway. The first phase of the project, which began in early March, involves the demolition and preparation for new landscaping.

Last year, a new and more water efficient landscape design was created for the Parkway. The plan incorporates native and adapted plants in a colorful xeriscape. Crews are removing the bulk of bluegrass that existed on the medians in favor of water-saving, lower maintenance plants that will gradually replace the bluegrass. While a few segments of median were complete last summer, the District expects to finish landscaping the remaining islands by late spring/early summer.
