CPNMD Board of Directors Signs the Parks Trails and Open Space IGA with the City of Castle Pines

As of April 1st 2023 The City of Castle Pines has taken over operations and maintenance of CPNMD Parks, Trails, Open-Space and Storm Water! This is a great step for our community!  You can visit the City website here!

This follows the June 2022 decision by both CPNMD Directors and the City Council to also transfer CPNMD's stormwater responsibilities to the City of Castle Pines. The Large overlap both in land and stewardship responsibilities related to both the  open space and stormwater facilities,  only adds to the increased level of service  to our community.

The Castle Pines will also handle all reservations for theses facilities. You can click here to make a reservation via the City's online scheduling tool.

CPNMD’s board of directors and City Council have unanimously agreed that the City is most suited to take care of these valuable community amenities. City Staff, contractors and and in-house professional horticulturists have been trusted with stewardship responsibilities for the community’s beautiful network of outdoor parks, trails, and open space amenities throughout the City.  Former CPNMD outdoor amenities the City of Castle Pines has assumed responsibility for include:

  • 352 acres of open space;
  • Fourteen miles of 8-foot wide trails; and
  • Three parks including Coyote Ridge Park, The Retreat Park, and Daniels Gate Park.

Trail maps posted throughout the community help residents navigate our network of open space amenities.

Together these amenities provide natural buffers and native habitat for wildlife. They also enhance the quality of life for all residents, strengthen property values, and make our community an exceptional place to live.

We recognize the unique value of these open space assets and take the of stewardship these responsibilities seriously. For the health and safety of all residents, it is required  that dog owners pick up and properly dispose of their dog’s waste immediately. Horseback riding and all motorized vehicles (gas or electric) on all  parks, trails, and open space are STRICTLY prohibited.
